Indian Scholarships

Government Scholarships:-

University Grants Commission (UGC) :-
The university grants commission is the largest scholarship granting authority in the country. Government ministries too take the help of the UGC to award scholarships.
Some of the new scholarships offered by the UGC are included under the Post-Graduate Merit Scholarship Scheme for rank holders at the undergraduate level. This is in association with the Union Ministry of Human resource development. Under this scheme, 2375 scholarships are given each year. The winners are entitled to Rs 2000 a month for 20 months during the period of post graduation. The aim of this scholarship is to attract students to postgraduate studies in non-professional subjects. The awardees can pursue their master’s degree in any area of specialization at any institute of higher learning recognized by UGC.
For availing scholarships such as JRF( Junior research fellowship) offered by UGC, the student should have passed the National Eligibility Test (NET) and similar exams recognized by UGC.
The UGC also has special schemes for girl students, scheduled tribes, scheduled castes and students of other categories. The Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for the Single Girl Child is one such programme. Those girl students who are the only child of their parents can avail this scholarship. They must have also enrolled in the first year of a masters degree programme at a UGC recognized university or college. A monthly stipend of Rs 2000 is paid for 20 months during the post graduation period.

Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship :-
The Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship provides financial assistance to students from SC community to pursue higher studies such as MPhil and PhD programmes.
Tribal Affairs Ministry has a scholarship for ST students interested in Commercial Pilot License Course (CPL).Selected candidates are provided a maintenance allowance. In addition, all compulsory fees including flight charges are provided by the ministry. For further information log on to www.tribal.nic.in.
A scheme has also been launched for students of SC and ST communities for post graduate studies in professional disciplines such as engineering and pharmacy from any university / college / institute in India.

Scholarships offered by government and public sector orgranizations :-

->Scholarship for engineering students awarded by NTPC (www.ntpc.co.in)
Grant is offered to 35 SC, ST and physically handicapped students. Selected candidates are offered a monthly stipend of Rs 1500 from the second year to final year.
->Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) offers funding through National Talent Scholarship to students pursuing undergraduate degree programmes in agricultural universities.

Scholarships offered by private bodies:-

Paul Foundation Scholarship :- Its for post graduate students both in India and abroad. They stress on studies teamed with good research work.

Fedbank Hormis Memorial Foundation (FHMF) :- This is for needy graduate and undergraduate students pursuing medicine, engineering, agriculture(BSc), nursing and MBA. The family income of the student should not be more than Rs 2 lakhs.

Good work man!! Bloggers hardly write on such topics.

We were searching for Writers to write for our upcoming e-zine "Reader's Quotient"which me and some of my friends are going to launch next month, and i came across your blog.

To tell you more, It's an online magazine which shall cover articles from all categories ranging from Buisness,Politics, India, World,Economy,Technology,Lifestyle,Book, Movies,Electronics goods etc reviews, Short stories,Mergers and Acquisition, Philosophy,psychology,Photography,Science, Discoveries And Inventions and a hell lot of things where every reader shall find something or the other to read about.

This magazine is an attempt to bring people with excellent writing skills come together and pass on some meaningful and productive message in each of its write-ups and not like writing something for the sake of writing.Money coming out of it either by means of Google-ad-sense or by exclusive sponsors shall be used to fund poor and needy children ranging from Middle
School to the Higher Secondary School and writers shall not be paid for any of their write-ups.

We have a dream to make this a big hit in the near future and start funding at least a dozen student ASAP so that they get the Basic Education and at the same time we have a vision to communicate this concept or any such constructive concept to the society so that we add some values to thesociety and make it a better place to live in.
